History
Landgrave Wilhelm IV von Hessen-Kassel built Wilhelmsburg in 1585–1590. The four-wing structure has maintained an exceptionally coherent architectural program.
The museum tells the story of the Schmalkaldic League, the culture of the court and the Reformation. The terrace garden is one of the oldest of its kind in central Germany.
