History
Today's palace grew out of the former Altenstein estate and in the 19th century became the summer residence of the princes of Saxe-Meiningen. After a fire in 1982, the facility underwent a long reconstruction.
The greatest value of the complex is the romantic park with caves, rocks, a waterfall and viewing axes. The palace itself remains under construction, but the park is officially accessible.
