History
Creuzburg was one of the most important castles of the Landgraves of Thuringia and secured the bridge and the road leading to Wartburg. Elizabeth of Turin often stayed here.
Despite the war damage, the massive walls, Romanesque residential building and chapel have been preserved, and the reconstruction restored the complex's museum functions.
