History
The castle was built as a sentinel for the routes crossing the western part of the Thuringian Forest. After losing its military importance, it gradually fell into ruin.
Already in the Romantic era, the walls were secured and made available to patients. Today, the ruin remains a characteristic point of the spa panorama.
