History
Mühlburg is mentioned as early as 704, making it one of the earliest documented castle sites in Thuringia. Later it belonged to, among others, the archbishops of Mainz.
The ruin with Bergfried dominates the village and, together with Burg Gleichen and Wachsenburg, forms the famous Drei Gleichen complex.
