History
The castle was the property of the Archbishops of Mainz and the seat of the Counts von Gleichen. Its silhouette, together with Mühlburg and Wachsenburg, gave rise to the landscape name Drei Gleichen.
The gate, bergfried, walls and relics of the Romanesque palace create a clear image of a medieval stronghold.
