Residenzschloss Altenburg

A vast princely residence with a playing card museum, representative halls and towers. Altenburg oferuje podróż od romańskich wież po barokowe apartamenty oraz muzeum związane z tradycją miasta kart do gry.

History

The stronghold on the rock above Altenburg was a center of power already in the Middle Ages. Subsequent Wettin family transformed it into a representative castle and princely palace.

The complex has preserved traces of many eras: Romanesque towers, a Gothic chapel, baroque wings and interiors related to the Sachsen-Altenburg court.

Wieże Flasche i Hausmannsturm, gotycka kaplica oraz reprezentacyjne skrzydła tworzą architektoniczną kronikę Wettynów. Można tu porównywać funkcje obronne, sakralne i dworskie zamiast oglądać jeden dominujący styl.

Muzeum kart do gry łączy pałac z miastem, w którym narodził się skat. Apartamenty i ekspozycja rzemiosła wspólnie pokazują dworską oraz mieszczańską tożsamość Altenburga.
