History
Scharfenstein was an important stronghold of the Archbishops of Mainz in the Eichsfeld. Fires and reconstructions changed its layout, but it retained a clearly defensive silhouette.
After a comprehensive renovation, the castle serves as a cultural and tourist attraction, combining the history of the region with local whiskey production.
Obronna sylwetka przypomina o roli zamku w systemie arcybiskupów Moguncji.
